Robert is a founding Partner of Piper Alderman, who was Chairman of the Firm from 1988 to 1995 and then Senior Partner for 5 years before retiring from the partnership in 1999. He continues with the firm as a Consultant, specialising in corporate and commercial advice, trusts, banking, finance, estate planning and mining agreements.

He has presented various papers to the Australian Institute of Company Directors and legal and business seminars on topics including directors’ responsibilities, trustees and other corporate issues.

In the 2000 Australia Day Honours, Bob Piper, was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. In addition to contributions to the legal community, the award reflects service to many public companies and community groups, including charitable, arts heritage and sporting organisations.
